This recipe is one of the easiest and most delicious chickens that you can just make in a few minutes with minimal ingredients! If you are looking to elevate your basic chicken recipe, this is the one for you!

Honey Garlic Chicken

If I were ever to do a summary of my top 5 Most Used Sauces, Honey Garlic Sauce would probably be right at the top of the list. I love it because it requires so few ingredients and it's very simple to make.

You guys know that I am a big fan of chicken, and over the years, I've tried a wide variety of quick and easy chicken recipes but this Honey Garlic Chicken is one of my favourite quick dinners that I find myself making over and over again.

SUBSTITUTES

I like to serve it with starch or grain and a veggie/salad. Some of my favourite options are:

  • Starch and grains: sweet potatoes, baby potatoes, mashed potatowhite rice, brown rice, couscous, quinoa
  • Veggies: broccoli, asparagus, spinach, carrots, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower etc.

Ingredients

  • 400 g 14 oz raw skinless chicken

  • 200 g 1 1/2 cup cooked sweet potato

  • 200 g 1 1/2 cup steamed asparagus

  • Seasoning 1
  • 5 g 1 tsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp light soy sauce

  • 20 g 2 6/7 tsp honey

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp lime juice

  • Seasoning 2
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp Smoked Paprika

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp BBQ seasoning

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp Turmeric

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp Garlic powder

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp Black pepper

  • 1 tsp 1 tsp Salt

  • Seasoning 3
  • 10 g 2 1/5 tsp olive oil

  • fresh chopped parsley

Directions

  • Score the chicken making 2-3cm slices 3/4 of the way through the chicken without cutting through. I made cuts horizontal and vertically.
  • Prepare your seasonings. For seasoning 1 mix together olive oil, soy sauce, honey and lime juice. For seasoning 2 mix paprika, BBQ seasoning, turmeric, garlic powder, pepper and salt. For seasoning 3 mix olive oil with fresh chopped parsley.
  • Season chicken (with all three seasonings) liberally making sure to get the seasoning inside the scores.
  • Place the chickens in a lined non-sticking baking tray and bake in a preheated oven for 25-28 mins at 200 Celsius
  • Serve with sweet potatoes and steamed asparagus (or check the alternatives mentioned above)
  • Sprinkle with some more fresh parsley and enjoy!

Notes

  • This recipe cooks exceptionally well in the air fryer. If you have one available, cook for 15-20 minutes at 200 Celcius.
