Healthy Crispy Chicken Burger

These healthy chicken burgers are ultra crispy and absolutely bursting with flavour. Better still, they couldn’t be easier to make, and they are so healthy that I am sure you will want to make them every day!

Crispy Chicken Burger

Crispy chicken burgers are a great alternative to beef patties as they are low in calories and fat. Perfect for lunch or dinner!

The best thing about these chicken burgers is that they’re super easy to make. All you have to do is dip the chickens into the eggs and then drop them into the panko bread crumbs.

I love using panko bread crumbs as a coating for my chicken burgers because they are crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. Plus, they add some texture to your burger! You can also use any kind of cereal such as cornflakes which will make them extra crispy!

INGREDIENTS

What you'll need to make these healthy crispy chicken burgers:

  • Chicken breasts: I have used 4 chicken breasts of 150g (5.25 oz)
  • Sesame Burger buns: mine were about 65g each, at 170 calories. 
  • Light cheddar cheese: if you can't find light cheddar cheese, you can substitute it with a different light cheese.
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Bolthouse Blue Cheese dressing: if you can't find a low-calorie store-bought sauce you can make your own dressing. Just combine low-fat mayonnaise, crumbled blue cheese, parsley, lemon, salt and a bit of water.
  • Panko Bread Crumbs: if you don't have panko bread crumbs, you can replace them with crushed cereals (Kellogs preferably). The procedure is exactly the same!
  • Eggs: To save even more calories, use only egg whites.

    Ingredients

    • 4 4 Brioche Buns

    • 600 g 21 oz Chicken breast

    • 60 g 1/8 lb light cheddar cheese

    • Green Leaf Lettuce

    • 1/2 1/2 tomato

    • 60 g 1/4 cup Bolthouse Farms Blue Cheese Dressing

    • Seasoning
    • 1 tsp 1 tsp Paprika

    • 1 tsp 1 tsp garlic powder

    • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp Onion Powder

    • 1 tsp 1 tsp sea salt

    • 1 tsp 1 tsp black pepper

    • 1st Bowl:
    • 1 Large 1 Large Egg

    • 25 g 1/8 cup Egg Whites

    • 2nd Bowl:
    • 60 g 1 cup Panko Bread Crumbs

    Directions

    • Season your chicken breasts with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt and pepper.
    • In one bowl beat the one egg and 25g egg whites to make an egg wash. In a separate bowl add your panko bread crumbs, and the same seasoning you used earlier.
    • Now take a chicken breast and dip it into the eggs covering all sides. Then drop it into the panko bread crumbs covering it as you did in the eggs. Repeat this process for all 4 chicken patties.
    • Spray the tops of the chicken patties with your cooking spray and then cook at 200 C for 30 minutes total. At the 10 minutes mark, you will flip the chicken tenders and spray them with a bit more cooking spray.
    • Next, toast your burger bun and begin assembling your burger by adding blue cheese dressing to your top and bottom bun. Then add lettuce, tomato, one chicken patty, and a slice of light cheddar cheese.
