Creamy Peanut Butter
December 8, 2022
You only need peanuts, a food processor, and five minutes. So creamy and delicious, you won’t want to go back to any premade peanut butter.
I make my own peanut butter because it's cheaper than store-bought and tastes so much better. It takes just a few minutes to put together, but you'll have to wait for the peanuts to roast. Once they're cool, though, you'll have a delicious jar of peanut butter ready in no time at all.
Peanut butter is a healthy food. It is rich in protein and fibre, and also contains vitamin E, niacin and folate.
As with any homemade product, the quality of your peanut butter will depend on the quality of ingredients you use. Using organic peanuts will ensure that there are no pesticides or herbicides on them and that they have not been genetically modified (GMO). Organic peanuts are also more likely to be grown without using chemical fertilizers or sprays.
If you do not have access to organic peanuts at a reasonable price then conventional ones are fine as long as they are not irradiated or genetically modified (GMO).
How to make
1. Preheat oven to 360 degrees F (180 degrees C). Spread peanuts onto a baking sheet.
2. Bake in the preheated oven until peanuts are lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Remove to cool. Use a timer and don't leave the oven unattended! It's easy for things to burn when you're not paying attention.
3. Pour the cooled peanuts into a blender or food processor; blend until smooth, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides of the blender or food processor bowl with a rubber spatula.
4. If necessary, add oil 1 tablespoon at a time, blending after each addition until peanut butter is smooth and creamy.
I hope this article has given you some ideas for how to make your own peanut butter at home. The process can be pretty involved, but it’s also very rewarding and fun.
